The men's team plays in the Berkshire winter and summer leagues. The top five players from the ladder are selected to play.  Any club members who are interested in playing for the team should add their names to the bottom of the ladder on the squash club notice board and challenge players up to two places above them to move up the ladder.  League games also count as challenges.

24th February 2010 Marlow - Home

Good result tonight.  Marlow are a good side,  led by the Berkshire Junior coach and his son.  However as we should we gave them a bit of a thumping.  Mike Sohachevsky came in at number 5 and had a bit of a bum deal against a capable No 5.   Worked hard and showed good promise, won a good number of points but not many together.   Warren played a tough old game against a very wristy chap.  Close game marked by Warren standing ever further forward to get his dropshots,  eventually taking position a good couple of feet in front of the Tee most of the time.  You definitely need good reactions to do that.  But he prevailed.  Young Mark Godley started slowly against the canny old Berkshire coach and was 2-6 down before he kicked into overdrive and started pulling him from front to back and side to side, dispatching him with ease in the end.  Mark Palser's game I didn't see as I was on court at the same time,  all i know was that it must have been over quickly.  I didn't play at all well. A few things on my mind.  But fortunately have a large chunk of Northern dogedness in my makeup which saw me through in another 5 setter.  Becoming a habit for me.  Must break that one !

Anyway a good night.  3 matches to go.  Roll on promotion
